
Simcha van Bel-du Plooy
Simcha van Bel-du Plooy is a Registered Counsellor (PRC0013170) and a Registered Psychometrist in Independent Practice (PMT0089087) with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). She is also an Accredited Family Mediator with FAMAC (www.famac.co.za).
Simcha holds an MSc in Forensic Psychology from Middlesex University, United Kingdom, a Post Graduate Certificate (PGC) in Psychology & Health from City University, (UK) and a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in Health and Social Care from City & Guilds (UK). She has worked both with adults and children with special educational needs for over 10 years both in the United Kingdom (UK) and in Cape Town, South Africa. She has been involved with PEACH in the UK, working with Autism Spectrum disorders.
Simcha is qualified in Brain Working Recursive Therapy (BWRT) and Solution Focused Practices.
In Cape Town she has been involved with various schools working in supporting teachers with the behavioural management of children who present with behavioural difficulties. She has also co-ordinated the social programs with the Centre for Play and Learning, as well as being involved with various one-on-one programs for children with learning and behaviour difficulties. For many years, Simcha has been doing Play Therapy with children who have experienced trauma through divorce, abuse, drugs, or loss of a parent. Currently she is further developing her skills in Integrated Learning Therapy (ILT) as well as Narrative Therapy.
Simcha is a key member of our counselling and psychometric team at our Claremont Practice. Her experience and insight of children with Autism Spectrum disorders, in particular, is an invaluable component of our multi-disciplinary therapeutic and assessment team.
