How does therapy work?

There are many ways to do therapy and most of them work well, depending on the reasons for coming to therapy. Generally, a therapist has a paradigm or a way of working which is their most common way of approaching and understanding their client and the presenting problems.

We believe in insight-orientated therapy which develops exploration of the self, others and the environment as a way of breaking free from the past and opening up healthier and more effective ways of being. This sometimes means a commitment to a process of therapy over a period of time; sometimes short-term (up to 3 months), sometimes medium-term (3 to 6 months), sometimes long-term (6 to 12 months or more). The length of therapy depends on the reason you come and on the growth that happens in therapy.
