Zeenat Osman Zeenat Osman
Zeenat Osman holds an Honours Degree in Psychology from the University of the Western Cape and is a Registered Counsellor (Independent Practice) with the HPCSA (PRC 0015687). She is sitting her HPCSA Registered Psychometrist in Independent Practice board exam in October 2012. Zeenat is also a qualified school teacher and has taught locally in various capacities which includes but is not limited to: mentoring university graduates, facilitating introductory courses to school learners and mentoring youths in disadvantaged/underprivileged communities.
Zeenat completed her Counselling internship at the Saartjie Baartman Centre for abused women and children which manifested her interest in child development through all life phases, providing trauma counselling and providing general psycho-education to both parents and their children. Drawing on her acquired skills in the field of education she, furthermore, has a special interest in the school careers of individuals and with her Psychometric internship training obtained at the Claremont Practice is able to provide services regarding psychometric testing to facilitate decisions in accordance with school readiness, subject choice and possible learning difficulties.
With her keen interest in community psychology and youth development, she’s involved with the Mustadafin Foundation where she assists in a volunteer capacity. Her duties include several key areas such as: Programme Developer (in the foundation stage of development focusing on Quality of Life and Study skills), Prospective Researcher (focussing on current programme effectiveness of the mentoring programme), Counsellor, Mentor (current school programme running at Edendale Primary) and Fundraising.
Other areas of interest include drug abuse counselling, sexual abuse counselling, play therapy, skills training, family counselling and parenting guidance.
